Gatineau will Rock again in 2018, celebrating the 10th edition of the Challenge

Ville de Gatineau

The 10th edition of the "Challenge de curling de Gatineau" is part of the World Curling Tour (WCT) and will take place October 17th to 21st 2018 in Gatineau. This year, the Buckingham Curling Club will be celebrating its 100th anniversary and we are planning a big celebration by partnering with the « Junior Slam Series » to host their U21 "Crystal Slam" the weekend before the Challenge, from October 12th to 14th. These two first class sports events will be jointly held at the Centre Sportif Robert Rochon (in the Masson sector of Gatineau) and the Buckingham Curling Club. The elite men's event is now considered one of the most prestigious on the World Curling Tour.

For this edition, the « Pro-Am » type event will host 24 elite men’s teams and 32 « open class » teams for a total of 256 participants who will compete for over $51,000 in purse money. The « Junior Slam Series » U21 event will host an international field of 15 boys and 25 girls teams for a total of 200 participants.

A total of more than 400 participants will take over the region during these two weeks. These events, will be a great happening and no doubt showcase great curling for the many fans of this sport in this region. We are also anticipating that this event and the influx of many out of town teams will generate a significant economic boost to the Gatineau-Ottawa Region.

The organizing committee can rely on the following Elite Partners : la Ville de Gatineau, le FM 104,7 Outaouais, the Buckingham Curling Club, Éducation, sport et loisir Québec, Curling Québec and the OVCA.
